Indigenous Peoples Statement

Peace Country Rentals and Sales Inc. (PCR) is committed to the long term economic and environmental sustainability of the Peace Region. We understand that the Indigenous Peoples of our area are intrinsic to this aim and are committed to building successful relationships with them.

Employment Policy

The following guidelines and actions are taken by Peace Country Rentals & Sales (hereinafter 'PCR') to meet our commitment in the areas of Indigenous staff attraction, employment and retention.

Attraction.

  • Recruitment practices will support fair equal opportunities for Indigenous Peoples and will be reviewed and assessed for successful indigenous applications, at regular intervals.
  • Without conflicting with Canada’s Freedom of Information Act, PCR will monitor and regularly try to increase the percentage of Indigenous employees.
  • PCR will foster Indigenous perspectives within their core business practices to guide future positive careers within the company.

Employment.

  • Work environments will acknowledge and be respectful of Indigenous staff members’ unique cultures, values and benefits.
  • Continued improvement to embed Indigenous perspectives into PCR’s culture, through staff review processes and promotions.
  • Give specific time and consideration to the Indigenous employees with the express interest of being responsive and progressive in our policies regarding Indigenous values.

Retention.

  • All levels of staffing and promotion will look to improve our Indigenous Peoples’ involvement at PCR.
    The employment policy will establish, monitor and improve the Indigenous involvement in all aspects of operations. Indigenous employment and involvement committee:

    • Other members—Indigenous heritage (Invited by the chair)

  • North East Native advancing Society (NENAS & NENAN) (multiple events)
  • Ready For Work Industry Training
  • Treaty 8 Tribal Association (various events)
